Seven days in the land of giants — Skardu, gateway to the highest peaks on earth. We take in the Shangrila and Kachura lakes, the cold desert of Katpana, the old Kharpocho fort, and a full day out on the Deosai plains, the second-highest plateau in the world.
Our most complete northern journey — big landscapes, big drives and time to breathe them in. Flights to Skardu can be arranged to trade the long road for extra days.
Depart Okara with a pickup at Faisalabad or Lahore (the exact point is confirmed when you book), then north onto the Karakoram Highway along the Indus, overnighting in Chilas.
The dramatic road along the Indus into Baltistan, arriving in Skardu by evening.
Lower Kachura (Shangrila) and the deep-blue Upper Kachura lake, with time by the water.
Full-day excursion onto the Deosai plateau — wildflowers, marmots and the alpine Sheosar lake.
Katpana cold desert, the Kharpocho fort above the town, and the ancient Manthal Buddha rock.
Begin the return down the KKH with photo stops, overnighting en route.
Final leg back to Okara, with drop-offs at Lahore / Faisalabad. (Skardu–Islamabad flights can replace the last drives on request.)
